St Marys Parish Navan Eucharistic Adoration

What is Eucharistic Adoration?

To help us better understand what Eucharistic Adoration is please set aside a little time to read through our short article with accompanying video and invitation form for your parish.

Eucharistic adoration is spending time with Jesus who is truly present in the Blessed Sacrament. During adoration we watch and wait, we remain silent in His presence and open ourselves to His graces which flow from the Eucharist. By being present during Adoration we become what God wants us to be. Like a magnet, Jesus draws us to Himself and gently transforms us.

What do I do during Adoration?

Jesus wants us so much to be with Him during Adoration. It is not for the prayers you might say, but for what He has to give you. Just as we can’t be exposed to the sun without feeling the effect of its rays, so we can’t be exposed to Jesus without feeling the effects of His grace.

If we really want to pray during Adoration, then we must first learn to listen, for it is in the silence of the heart that God speaks. “Be still and know that I am God” (PS 46:10)

Your Personal Invitation

This invitation is from Jesus, and it is personal to you! To spend just one hour each week with Him. Eucharistic Adoration takes place in St Mary’s Church each day and in St Oliver’s Church each Saturday. In the Garden of Gethsemane Jesus reminds us of this invitation: “Could you not keep watch for one hour with me?

God gives us 168 hours each week – could we not give one hour back to Him?

Spending time in Adoration

The importance of a specific Hour

In order to have a constant vigil of prayer before the Blessed Sacrament, we must make sure that each hour during the day is covered. Therefore, it is necessary for each person to commit to one specific hour each week. For example, each Wednesday at 12 noon.

In this way, the hours can be organized so that someone is with Jesus all the time. If you would like to attend Eucharistic Adoration in St Mary’s Parish please complete the below invitation form and a member of our team will contact you with more information.

What if I cannot attend?

Your willingness to choose an assigned hour is a precious expression of your faith that Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament is welcomed, loved, and adored by you. Please don’t be afraid to take a fixed hour for fear that there may be times you can’t make it.

A substitute system to take care of emergencies will be in place if you cannot attend. Or you can send a friend or family member to fill in for you at any given time.

Within the quiet of our hearts, we find God. Within the whisper of our souls, He speaks. And it all begins by being present with God during Eucharistic Adoration.

“Come to Me, all you who are weary and overburdened, and I will give you rest” (MT 11:28)
